Dr. Robert Tomes Humanitarian Scholar Award

Through generous benefactors of the Tomes family and friends, St. John’s faculty, alumni, and former students, The Dr. Robert Tomes Humanitarian Scholar Award endowment fund was established in 2024. The Fund shall provide one or more scholarship to students in the Collins College of Professional Studies. Scholarship recipients shall be selected by the University’s Office of Student Financial Services or its successor, in collaboration with the Dean of the Collins College of Professional Studies and the Dean’s scholarship committee or his/her designee. The criteria used in determining the recipients shall be based upon a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 and the Committee’s review of scholarship applications demonstrating the candidate’s community service which aligns with St. John’s Vincentian Mission, continuing the legacy of Dr. Tomes here at St. John’s University. Member(s) of the Tomes Family (if available) may provide comments to the Dean’s Scholarship Committee on applications submitted.
