Markel Specialty Scholarship Fund

The Scholarship Fund shall provide one or more partial scholarship support to a senior from an under represented population (as defined by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission), who is majoring in Actuarial Science or Risk Management and Insurance, with preference given to student(s) with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and a demonstrated intent in pursuing a career in the insurance field. Applicants are required to submit a 600-word essay that describes their leadership qualities and other unique characteristics that will enable them to make a meaningful contribution to the insurance industry, that reflect the Markel Style. Awards are non-renewable. The recipient(s) of the Scholarships shall be selected by the administrative leadership and Dean of the Greenberg School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science (GSRM), or its successor, in consultation with the University’s Office of Student Financial Services (or its successor). Annual scholarships will be in the amount of $5,000.00.
